Police Continue Search for Mother Last Seen on Date Night at Mariners Game, Man Arrested for Investigation of Murder

UPDATE

Video Released of Missing Washington Mom, Seen with New Date at Mariners Game Before Vanishing

Previous Story

A suspect is behind bars as police continue to search for a missing Washington woman who never returned home after a date night with a new man on Friday, according to Seattle police.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 58-year-old Leticia Martinez-Cosman was last seen at the T-Mobile Park on March 31 while at a Mariners game in Seattle. KIRO 7 reports that a photo taken on the date and posted on social media has been shared with police.

Police arrested 46-year-old Brett Gitchel on April 6, in connection with Martinez-Cosman’s disappearance, for the investigation of murder, kidnapping, theft, and assault. It’s unclear at this point how Gitchel is connected to the case, but a woman told Fox News Digital that Gitchel’s mugshot matched the description of the man spotted at the game with the victim.

Meanwhile, according to Fox News Digital, a man woke up Martinez-Cosman’s son in the middle of the night before she had been reported missing. The man allegedly said Martinez-Cosman fell down and was injured and offered to take her son to the hospital.

The son reportedly agreed and left with the man in a vehicle; the man then began attacking Martinez-Cosman’s son and tried to put a bag over his head while choking him. The son managed to escape and was found wandering alone in a wooded area in Renton.

The son reportedly told police that he wasn’t sure if the man who attacked him was Gitchel.

It’s unclear whether Martinez-Cosman was home at the time of her son’s attack or whether the son lives at the same residence as his mother.

Court records obtained by Fox 13 indicated that Gitchell was previously arrested for domestic violence, drugs, lying to police, and auto theft.

Martinez-Cosman has been described as standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighing around 135 pounds. She has green eyes and brown hair, according to the Seattle Police Department.

“If anyone has any information about this case, or the whereabouts of Martinez-Cosman please call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000,” Seattle police said.
