Teen mom-to-be shot and killed, unborn baby girl dies

The suspect is believed to be the teen girl’s boyfriend

An expectant teenage mother died after another teen believed to be her boyfriend allegedly shot her on Monday.

WSMV reports that Colton Perryman, 18, has been arrested for the fatal shooting of Samantha “Stormy” Carter, 16, at the Richmond Inn in Pulaski, Tennessee, Monday night.

Carter was 22 weeks pregnant. Despite lifesaving efforts, her baby did not survive, and the teen girl was reportedly pronounced dead a short time later.

Social media posts indicate that Perryman was Samantha’s boyfriend and possibly the baby’s father. In recent months, Samantha had shared multiple photos of her baby’s sonogram.

A motive for the fatal shooting is not yet known.

The expectant mother had already given her unborn baby girl a name: Scarlet Danielle.

The suspect had reportedly been living at the hotel after his family was displaced by a housefire. The pregnant teen victim’s living situation is not yet known.

Her mother Renée Swider Carter posted multiple updates to Facebook about the tragic shooting, most recently on Wednesday to share the news of her daughter’s passing.

According to WSMV, Perryman has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, and police say more charges are expected.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
