Donald Trump Jr.’s soon-to-be ex Vanessa Trump hires criminal attorney

Vanessa Trump has hired a criminal defense attorney in divorce proceedings against her husband Donald Trump, Jr.

Page Six, which first reported that Vanessa Trump had filed for divorce from Don Jr. earlier this week, now reports that the president’s daughter-in-law has secured White Plains-based attorney David Feureisen to represent her.

According to Page Six, Feureisen is best known for a high-profile case in which he helped secure the release of a man with purported mob ties after a murder conviction had been overturned.

The news of the soon-to-be ex-Trump’s legal representation comes one day after special counsel Robert Mueller subpoenaed the family business as part of its probe into possible Russian meddling in the 2016 election, demanding that the Trump Organization hand over troves of documents. The timing suggests that Vanessa Trump may be preparing for the possibility she will be called to testify, though no one involved has commented publicly on the reasons for the decision.

One legal expert told Page Six that Vanessa’s hiring of a criminal attorney indicates things between her and her estranged husband may be acrimonious, though the couple said in a joint statement that they were parting amicably.

“It’s a curious choice if it’s an amicable separation,” Manhattan family law expert Bonnie Rabin told said.

“If it’s an amicable situation, you wouldn’t be highlighting the criminal aspect.”

Vanessa and Donald Trump, Jr. were married in 2005 , and share five children.
