Suspects leave dead 6-month-old baby in crawlspace, stuffed in cat litter container: Cops

A man and woman in Pennsylvania are facing an array of criminal charges after authorities say a 6-month-old baby was found dead inside their residence.

According to the New York Post, authorities in Spring Township responded to the home in response to a family member’s concern for the child’s welfare.

Reports indicate 25-year-old Shaun Oxenreider and 27-year-old Samantha Trump were arrested late Monday evening after police found the child they believe to be Harper Trump.

Once inside the apartment unit, officials reportedly entered a locked bathroom where they found photographs of a baby along with soiled diapers.

Court records indicate the baby’s body was found inside a crawlspace inside the residence. The remains were allegedly wrapped in a trash bag found inside of a large container of cat litter.

The two suspects were arrested on suspicion of concealing the death of a child, abuse of a corpse and conspiracy.

An autopsy is planned for later this week in an attempt to determine the cause of the baby’s death.

As WGAL reported, Oxenreider and Trump were identified as the deceased baby’s parents.

Another child at the residence has been placed in the custody of Children and Youth Services.

Oxenreider was transported to Berks County Prison upon his arrest. Trump, who is pregnant, was taken to Reading Hospital where she was placed under police supervision.

She reportedly collapsed a short time after authorities entered the home.

It is unclear from the latest available reports whether the defendants have obtained legal representation. Neither Oxenreider nor Trump had responded publicly to the charges as of Tuesday.
