BREAKING: Colorado AMBER Alert girl found safe, kidnap suspect shot himself rather than surrender to police

A 12-year-old girl missing from Grand Junction, Colorado, has been found safe.

KKTV 11 reports that Raeanna Rosencrans was found Thursday night at a Walmart in Rifle, Colorado. She appeared to have been physically unharmed and was taken to a hospital for a precautionary medical evaluation.

Her stepfather and suspected abductor Jody Haskin was also located near the same Walmart. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office told KKTV 11 that Haskin shot himself when police attempted to apprehend him. His condition is not known at this time.

Raeanna had been missing since Wednesday afternoon, when she reportedly got into Haskin’s car after he approached her while she was walking home from school. Haskin has an active arrest warrant for the sexual assault of a child. The identity of his victim has not been disclosed due to privacy laws.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
