3-month-old boy dies after mom says she forgot to drop him off at daycare: Report

A Kentucky woman said she forgot to drop her 3-month-old son off at daycare before reporting for her shift at work

According to the U.K. Metro, Aiden Miller’s mother dropped her daughter off at the daycare center but neglected to leave her son with a separate sitter.

The baby’s father, who is no longer in a relationship with the mother, said the incident on Wednesday left him angry and upset, as reported by WLKY.

“I don’t understand how this could happen and my heart is broken,” Aaron Miller said. “My biggest hope is in sharing this story, another child’s life will not be lost.”

Reports indicate the mother worked through her shift without realizing the fatal mistake. When she returned to her car, Aaron Miller said his ex opened the door and smelled the foul odor of her son’s body in the backseat.

Authorities responded to the scene a short time later and the unresponsive infant was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In another interview, the grieving father said that this all-too-common tragedy “doesn’t get any closer to home than this.”

He said children should be “the number one priority,” declaring that it is “inexcusable for any kid to have to go through this and for parents to have to lose a child like this.”

As of the latest reports available, police were still investigating the death.

The baby’s mother had not responded to media requests for a statement. Aaron Miller said she took the boy into the New Albany medical center where she worked in a failed attempt to revive him before he was taken to the hospital.
