‘Superman’ actress Margot Kidder’s death ruled suicide

Margot Kidder, the actress who rose to fame in the role of Lois Lane in the “Superman” film series, died by suicide, according to a medical examiner’s evaluation.

Kidder, 69, was found dead in her Montana home in May. According to a New York Post report, the county coroner said that the actress “died as a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose.”

Her daughter released a statement showing that she agreed with the medical examiner’s conclusion, and reportedly told the newspaper that she suspected her mother had killed herself as soon as she learned that she had died.

“It’s important to be open and honest so there’s not a cloud of shame in dealing with this,” Kidder’s daughter, Maggie McGuane, told the New York Post.

“It’s a big relief that the truth is out there.”
