A 32-year-old teacher is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a female student

A 32-year-old California teacher has been arrested after a 14-year-old student reported having a monthslong romantic relationship with her.

According to ABC 7, Camryn Zelinger was arrested Monday at the Encore High School for the Arts in Riverside, California, following an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at the Riverside Police Department. A 14-year-old student told police that she had a physical relationship with Zellinger.

“The investigation revealed inappropriate physical contact and communications between the teacher and student,” according to a Riverside Police Department news release obtained by ABC 7. Zelinger was arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor and annoying or molesting a child under 18.

Riverside Police Officer Officer Ryan Railsback told the news station that the student and teacher communicated via text message, and that “the investigation determined that was a crime along with the physical contact that the teacher made against the student.”

According to CBS Los Angeles, Zelinger is no longer employed by the school.
