North Carolina woman found chained in shed

A North Carolina man is facing kidnapping charges after deputies in Hoke County found a woman locked inside a shed and chained up.

WSBTV reports that Gary Allen McNair, 52, allegedly grabbed the female victim, bound her with rope and chains, and locked her in a shed behind a Raeford, North Carolina, residence. Police officers overheard clamoring and commotion coming from a back yard off of Quick Wilkerson Road. The home was later determined to be McNair’s mother’s home.

When authorities opened the shed, they found the victim restrained inside. She told the officers she was restrained and held against her will for about an hour before they showed up.

According to the Hoke County Police Department, McNair’s mother, Verdell McNair, is the one that alerted police to the commotion in the backyard. She said she didn’t know what was going on, but it scared her so much that pulled out her gun.

“I said, ‘Oh my God! What in the world?’ I hurried up and shut my door…..My gun was loaded, because I didn’t know what was going on.”

Gary McNair, who lives off of Ray Street, was handcuffed and charged with charged with second-degree kidnapping. It’s still unclear if the suspect knew the victim.
