Warning! Disturbing Video: Two men torture, kill cat with scalding water

The men have been ordered to volunteer at an animal shelter

Two Mississippi men convicted of horrific animal abuse have been sentenced to six months in jail — followed by mandatory volunteer service at an animal shelter.

According to WJTV-12, Laderrick Rostchild, 24, was convicted of aggravated animal abuse while his uncle Larry Rostchild, 43, was convicted of simple abuse after the two men tortured and killed a cat by locking it in a cage and dousing it with scalding water.

The unthinkable animal torture was caught on video, which is not for the faint of heart: The suffering cat can be heard screaming out in agony and as boiling water is repeatedly poured on it, and one of the men can be seen kicking the cat as it convulses in pain and shock.

The cat was reportedly found dead the day after the video was filmed.

The younger Rostchild was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine. His uncle was given a sentence of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Both men will be required to volunteer 200 hours at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, presumably under close supervision.

Below is disturbing footage from the monstrous abuse:
