Woman attacks man with pick axe

An Iowa woman is facing five charges after she reportedly went after a store owner with a pick axe.

Quad City Times reports that on Friday at around 3 p.m., Cassandra R. Doran allegedly entered the Gazebo Antiques & Collectibles in Clinton, picked up a pick axe and began swinging it, breaking numerous items in the store. The pick axe struck the store owner several times. The store owner, whose name is unknown, was taken to Mercy Medical Center.

Doran reportedly fled the building after causing a large amount of damage, but someone visiting the store next door tackled her and held her down until police arrived.

While investigating, authorities noted that Doran reportedly damaged a vehicle park outside of the store, off of Main Street, as well as caused damage to another store in the area. She’s charged with willful injury causing serious injury, burglary, and three counts of criminal mischief.

So far, the motive behind the incident is unclear. The story is still developing.
