These “celebs” made being bad look so good

At one point or another, one of your favorite actors, musicians, or reality stars will commit some crime and take a mugshot. Or you’ll learn about a newly christened criminal and become so fascinated by them that they become a celebrity.

It’s a never-ending, albeit interesting cycle in the world of true crime meets fame. So we’ve compiled five smooth criminals who made being bad look good. You should know by now though: don’t try this at home.

Jeremy Meeks

Remember this guy? It was almost three years ago when Jeremy Meeks showed up all over the Internet for his mugshot stemming from an arrest for weapons charges. His piercing blue eyes and strong jaw had everyone drooling over #MugshotBae. He was later released and inked a modeling contract with White Cross Management. So where is Mr. Meeks these days? Oh you know, just hanging out at New York Fashion Week. He even walked for designer Philipp Plein at this past NYFW this month. Must be nice.

Paris Hilton

In 2010, Paris Hilton was arrested for drug charges in Las Vegas. She served a healthy dose of Blue Steel in her mugshot. While this was far from her first mugshot—she has a pretty sophisticated collection in the early aughts thanks to drunk driving charges and probation violations—by 2010 she was a pro. Nobody welcomes a mughsot into their portfolio, but if you’re going to shoot one, this is the one to take. That’s still hot.

Chace Crawford

Gossip Girl here, with a special throwback edition of Chace Crawford’s 2010 mugshot for weed possession charges. While Chace still looks slightly stoned in his mugshot, the stubbly “actor in between roles” beard coupled with the “concerned yet rebellious” eyes makes this one hell of a sexy photo. The pursing of the lips says, “Damnit what will I tell my agent?” doesn’t it? What do you think?

Justin Bieber

This one required both the face forward and profile mugshot to really drive the point home. Last year, during his supposed “I’ve changed” phase, Justin Bieber was arrested on DUI charges. When he was booked, he flashed those pearly whites and even smized for the camera.

While that’s a cute enough photo—mainly because he kind of looks like Miley Cyrus—it’s that profile shot though. Look at him, just look at him. He looks like he’s about to beg Selena Gomez for forgiveness or something. Who would send a face like that to jail? (Spoiler alert: a lot of people)

“The Bling Ring”

Alexis Neiers, Diana Tamayo, Nicholas Prugo, Rachel Lee, Courtney Leigh Ames, Roy Lopez, Jr. and Jonathan “Johnny Dangerous” Ajar. While these names may not collectively ring a bell, their crime ring known as “The Bling Ring” certainly will.

In 2010, Vanity Magazine profiled Alexis Neiers in an article titled “The Suspects Wore Louboutins,” highlighting how Neiers and her band of merry blingers robbed the multi-million dollar homes of Hollywood celebrities using social media and a keen sense of stalking.

Their story became a hit film directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Emma Watson. So basically they robbed celebrity homes and because of it became celebrities. This must be the trajectory they don’t teach us at career counseling.
