A 15-year-old San Antonio teen who was nine months pregnant, was killed on Monday. Police are treating the death as a homicide.
Dallas Morning News reports that Jennifer Delgado had numerous gunshot wounds to her body when police found her inside a Spanish Keys apartment home, off of Babcock Road, in NW San Antonio. She was pronounced dead on the scene, but paramedics rushed her to University hospital in an attempt to save the infant. The effort was unsuccessful. The victim’s 1-year-old child was inside the home in a crib, unharmed.
Police were originally responding to a suicide threat in a nearby apartment. A 35-year-old unnamed man was inside. He endured upper body gunshot wounds from what appeared to be a suicide attempt. Police charged him with Delgado’s murder. He’s currently in a hospital in critical condition. While on the scene, they learned that a female in a different apartment may have been harmed. When they checked the other apartment home, they found signs of forced entry, and Delgado lying lifeless on the floor.
Officer Doug Greene, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department, paused to wipe away tears from his eyes as he gave a public statement about the incident.
“It’s a very tragic scene and situation. This is one of the harder ones for us to go to.”
It’s still unclear what the relationship between the man and Delgado was. Police did confirm, however, that the suspect and victim knew each other. The story is still developing. Check back later with Crime Online for additional details.
