A woman charged with murder-for-hire is out on bail awaiting trial for plotting to kill her ex-husband along with her boyfriend’s ex.

Valerie McDaniel, 48, a veterinarian, and Leon Jacob, 39, who lived together in a River Oaks high-rise, were arrested on March 10 and charged with solicitation of capital murder, reports ABC 13 News in Houston.

McDaniel was released Monday after posting $50,000 bail while Jacob remains in custody.

According to court documents, the pair was plotting to kill McDaniel’s ex-husband, according to Houston.com. The duo was arrested when the hitman turned out to be an undercover Houston police officer.

According to the police charge sheet, McDaniel and Jacob were willing to pay more than $10,000 to murder McDaniel’s ex-husband, who she divorced in August 2016. McDaniel and her ex have a daughter together and the child is currently staying with McDaniel’s ex-husband and her grandparents, while McDaniel is in jail.

According to court documents, Jacob was charged with stalking and assaulting his ex-girlfriend in February. He allegedly wanted her killed to stop her testifying against him.

McDaniel owns and runs the Montrose Veterinary Clinic. Jacob once held permits as a “physician in training” with the Texas Medical Board but according to court documents, those permits were terminated years ago.

The suspect’s husband reportedly obtained a protective order against his wife since her release.
