Florida woman threatens to shoot 7-11 clerk dead when he won’t accept dirty pennies as payment

A customer at a Florida 7-11 threatened to kill a clerk who refused her payment: An “old, dirty jar of pennies,” as authorities told Florida Today.

According to the news outlet, the woman showed up at a Melbourne 7-11 at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and picked up several items to purchase. When she got to the cash register, she presented the clerk with an unusual form of payment.

“She had a bunch of pennies in a jar. They clerk said they were dirty, gunked-up pennies. That’s when the argument started,” Melbourne Police Lt. Steve Sadoff told Florida Today.

When the clerk told the woman the purchase price was simply too high for him to count out in pennies, she reportedly went into a rage — tossing items off the counter and throwing things at the cashier before telling him she was going to kill him.

She then left and returned to the 7-11 with two firearms, according to Florida Today.

It does not appear that the woman ever shot at the clerk, who suffered only minor injuries during the altercation. The woman left the store a second time and did not return – and it is unknown if she took her pennies with her.

Melbourne Police are searching for the woman, who was caught on the store’s surveillance camera. She could face multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.
