BOLO: Army vet’s beloved service dog kidnapped in Mother’s Day attack, still missing [VIDEO]

A former Army ranger who served in Afghanistan after the 9/11 terror attacks is missing his service dog after he was attacked in New York City while taking the eight-month-old puppy for a walk.

Robert Lebron told Pix 11 news that he was just returning to his apartment from Poe Park in the Bronx when he was attacked by two unidentified assailants. The news station obtained surveillance video footage of the attack.

“I was attacked from behind,” Lebron said. After one of the men jumped on him, Lebron fell down some stairs, and the other man grabbed Mala’s leash and took off with her.

Lebron told the news station he has an idea who might be behind the attack and the dog kidnapping: His wife’s ex-boyfriend, who allegedly attacked him another time within the last month.

Lebron was not seriously injured, and for now, his biggest concern is getting his beloved dog back.

“What she gives me I can’t get from someone else: not a therapist or a family member or my friend,” he said about Mala. “It’s unconditional love.”
