Boy turns father in after finding drugs

An 11-year-old Massachusetts boy helped police catch a suspected heroin dealer: His own father.

According to Fox 43, an 11-year-old boy from Lawrence called 911 after he found a suitcase full of illegal drugs wrapped in sandwich bags in their home.

When investigators arrived, they identified the substance as heroin mixed with Fentanyl, a potent and highly addictive opiate.

The boy reportedly told police he had seen his father selling drugs earlier that day.

According to the news station, Yamil Mercado, 40, surrendered to police and has since been charged with child endangerment and drug trafficking.

“I commend this young man for being brave enough to come forward and report that these dangerous substances were in his home,” a police official told the news station.
