BOLO! Teen mom and infant son missing in Arizona; possible custody dispute

Police in Mesa, Arizona, have issued a missing persons alert for a young mom and her 9-month-old son who have not been seen since June 15.

Madeline Frieda Jones, 19, was last seen with her son, William Jones-Gouchenour, around 5:30 p.m.,McKellips Road and Stapley Drive, according to the Mesa Police Department. The alert issued by authorities states Jones is “having custodial issues regarding her son” and was reportedly on her way to see her attorney and then friends. She did not see her attorney and has not been seen nor heard from since.

12 News reports a Maricopa County judge issued a warrant for authorities to take custody of William if they locate him and his mother.

The child’s father, BYU student Jacob Gouchenour, said a judge granted shared custody of William to him and his ex-wife, Madeline, reports azfamily.com. Gouchenour states he had his first visit planned with Jones and his son for last Wednesday afternoon. Jones allegedly cancelled the visit and has not been seen since.

On Monday morning Gouchenour’s attorney filed a motion petitioning the court to grant full custody of the child to Gouchenour. Judge Stephen Hopkins granted the motion reported azfamily.com.

Gouchenour claims his ex-wife suffers from a mental illness and he believes his soon could be in danger. In a Facebook post,  Gouchenour’s mom said Madeline left her phone and purse behind.

Jones is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 145 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes. William weighs about 17 pounds, and also has blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211.
