Money can’t buy happiness: Wife shoots husband dead, then shoots herself inside couple’s brand-new $1.6M Lux mansion

A New Jersey wife is accused of shooting her husband inside their luxurious mansion on Thursday, after only a month of marriage.

NJ.com reports that Arshad Zarak, 52, and his wife Asma Hussain, 42, were both found dead in their mansion on 4 Paddington Court in Holmdel. Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccion said that both were found in the master bedroom, dead from gunshot wound. Asma Hussain apparently shot her husband before turning the gun on herself.

A male teen called 911 at around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday afternoon and said that he found the couple unconscious and unresponsive inside their bedroom. Authorities found Zarak with two gunshots wound, laying across the bed. They found Hussain with one gunshot wound on the bedroom floor, with a gun in her hand.

The Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office stated that Zarak had two gunshots wound to his head, while Hussain had one gunshot wound to her head. Detectives are currently investigating the incident, trying to gather additional information that can shed light on the tragedy.

The couple had only lived in their newly-purchased $1.6 million mansion for less than a month when the shootings occurred. Neighbors reported that they had three children.

Neighbors also reported that they never heard the couple argue or fight and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Detective Patrick Petruzziello of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443 or Detective Andrew Kret of the Holmdel Police Department at 732-946-4400.
