Man fatally shoots girlfriend before turning the gun on her teen daughter: ‘A blood-curdling scream’

The mother’s 15-year-old daughter witnessed the horrific shooting of her family members

A Pennsylvania man is facing murder charges after he shot his girlfriend to death and injured her teenage daughter.

Angel Manuel Cruz, 54, is facing charges of homicide, attempted homicide, and aggravated assault after fatally shooting his girlfriend, Dagmary Baez-Arocho, 39, and shooting her 17-year-old daughter Sunday night.

A witness, who chose to remain unidentified, told NBC10 that she heard the shooting and the screams that followed.

“I heard like five or six shots it sounded like. I’m hearing this, ‘pop, pop, pop, pop.'”

Then she heard “a blood-curdling scream. Somebody’s dying type scream.”

Police were called to the scene where they found Beaz-Arocho and her daughter. The two victims were rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where the mother was pronounced dead.

The teen is in stable condition.

WFMZ reports that Cruz turned himself in to police and said that he pulled the trigger.

He said that he shot Baez-Arocho after the two got into a fight. She slapped him so he shot her several times before turning the gun on her oldest daughter.

Baez-Arocho’s 15-year-old daughter was also home at the time of the shooting. She reportedly told police the argument broke out after her mother asked Cruz to leave.

Maria Rivera, a relative of the victims, said that Baez-Arocho is survived by four children. She said the family will do what they can for the kids.

“You can never replace a mom. So it is going to be really hard.”

Cruz is being held in the Lehigh County Jail without bail.
