Boy killed in tragic jet ski accident while mother was driving

A boy died in a horrific jet ski accident while his own mother was driving.

Yahoo News reports that Luke Powell, 15, of Townsville, Australia, was killed this weekend in a tragic jet ski accident when he was riding an inflatable tire being pulled by the jet ski.

He was reportedly in the Ross River on Sunday when the freak accident claimed his life.

“As the jet ski attempted to execute a turn in the river, I understand he was flipped over and thrown into the river bank,” Inspector Mark Jackson said in a news conference.

Authorities believe Luke’s mother was driving the jetski at the time.

Police told the Brisbane Times that the boy was thrown onto a riverbank and was seriously injured when he landed on rocks. A nurse happened to be passing by and tried to revive him, along with a family member, but Powell later died of his injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate, but no charges have been filed at this time.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
