Police respond to car accident, find teen shot in head with the father of her sister’s children

Police responding to the report of a car accident in Connecticut found a 17-year-old teen girl shot in the head, and a man is in custody on suspicion of murder.

WFSB reports that police reported to the scene of a car accident on Monday night in Waterbury and found Evalyce Santiago shot twice in the head and once in the hand inside a vehicle.

Authorities also found an adult make in the car, and reportedly believe he shot Santiago. Police told the news station that they are not clear if Santiago was killed by the shooting or the accident.

“Also on the scene at that time was the driver of the vehicle, Dominic Pittman, of Waterbury. Pittman was visibly shaken and suffered some bumps and bruises,” Spagnolo said.

A family member told the news station that Pittman had three children with Santiago’s sister, and that the teen and the murder suspect had been in a relationship at the time of her death.

“He was my son in law. I just want the truth,” Francisco Rivera, Santiago’s adoptive father.

“He was dating my daughter and he has three kids with my other daughter.”

“She was a good kid you know, very good in every way,” Christopher Santiago, the murdered teen’s biological father told the news station.

“She was pure a better me.”

Pittman has reportedly been charged with murder and multiple weapons-related charges. He remains in custody on $1 million bail.
