Pregnant ‘mom’ beats twin toddler to unconsciousness, then claims the little girl fell by accident: Police

A pregnant California woman is behind bars after police say she abused her twin children, leaving one of them in critical condition.

People reports that authorities arrested Sacil Lucero, 26, of Santa Ana, on Sunday after she allegedly beat her 13-month-old twin daughter to the point of unconsciousness. Police indicated that the she initially claimed the child fell in the bathtub and hurt herself, but under additional questioning, admitted that she caused the injuries.

Lucero took the child to the University of California’s Irvine Medical Center herself, where she’s listed in critical condition.

According to court documents, the toddler suffered numerous injuries and severe trauma, while her twin brother, also abused, had a skull fracture and numerous rib fractures. The other children in the home appeared unharmed, police reported.

Ana is expecting her fifth child and told police she started harming her twins upon news she was expecting yet another child.

The suspect is currently being held at the Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail. She’s expected for her first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
