‘Pervert’ sets up surveillance cameras, spies on vacationing families, including children

A Massachusetts man will serve jail time after police say he set up multiple cameras inside the bathroom of a vacation home in Maine that he once rented with family and friends.

New York Post reports Joseph J. McGrath, 32, was sentenced to a month in jail after police found numerous cameras, some disguised as vase-shaped air fresheners, inside the vacation home. They arrested him shortly after an investigation, at his East Longmeadow home at 25 Tracey Lane.

The arrest happened after authorities were called to a beachfront home on Nubble Road in York, Maine, on Sept. 4, after a vacationer noticed four cameras inside the bathroom. According to Mass Live, investigators determined McGrath installed the cameras himself when he rented the property. This eventually led authorities to McGrath’s home, where he was questioned and detained.

“While investigating the crime, it was determined that [one] of the actual renters of the house had placed the cameras in the bathrooms to video other friends and family that were staying there with him,” police reported in Sept.

Following sentencing on Wednesday, McGrath was transported to the York County Jail, where he’ll serve 30 days for 10 counts of privacy invasion. The victims were reported to be both adults and children.
