Grandma and Godmother beat 11-month old, burn him so severely his leg had to be AMPUTATED

The two Oklahoma City women watching a baby when he was severely burned last month have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and child neglect.

According to KFOR, the 11-month-old boy’s godmother and grandmother, Breanna Cole and Cordette Cole, were responsible for him while his mother cared for another child who was ill.

Investigators say the child had suffered extensive injuries when he was admitted to an area hospital on Christmas Day with what were initially described as breathing problems.

Upon an initial examination, hospital staff noticed multiple wounds, including a burn so severe his leg was ultimately amputated as a result. His burns reportedly spanned from his belly button to his feet.

A doctor reportedly told investigators that if the child had “received proper medical treatment immediately, he would have not had had to have his leg amputated.”

According to police, the suspects said the baby inadvertently spilled a pot of boiling water during a seizure on December 10.

Despite the fact that his skin reportedly bubbled off due to the severity of the wound, Breanna and Cordette Cole claimed they were attempting to take care of his burn at home. It was weeks later that Breanna Cole transported the child to the Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center.

They were both booked into jail with bail set at $1 million each.

Among his other visible injuries, an affidavit indicates he showed bruises on his head and neck, suffered bleeding on his brain and had a tooth knocked out.

Investigators say Breanna Cole changed her story multiple times when confronted with inconsistencies and discrepancies in her account of how the child received his injuries.
