Teen who went missing with plans to meet alleged Snapchat predator has died

A Texas teen went missing briefly last year before being safely returned home has been found dead.

The Beaumont Enterprise reports that Heaven Ray Cox, 15, died on Saturday of yet-undisclosed causes. Her family reportedly announced her passing in a Facebook post.

A woman believed to be Heaven Ray Cox’s mother posted on Facebook on Saturday that Heaven had died that day.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Heaven went missing in November and was believed to have left home to meet an alleged sexual predator who had befriended her online. According to the missing persons flyers distributed at the time, Heaven suffered from mental illness and was believed to be in a manic phase when she disappeared.

Heaven was found safely in Louisiana and reunited with her family on December 1. Her mother had reportedly found a note from her daughter saying she was going to meet the man she met on Snapchat and possibly go to California with him. It is not known at this time if Heaven did meet that man. According to the Beaumont Enterprise, she was found at a home belonging to a relative of an acquaintance after a witness called in a tip.

According to the New York Daily News, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office had not confirmed whether an alleged predator was involved in Heaven’s disappearance.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide updates when more information is available.
