Missing AMBER Alert baby boy found dead; father faces murder and desecrating a human corpse charges

The body of  a 7-month-old baby boy was found in Oklahoma City on Thursday morning, a day after an AMBER Alert was issued for infant, Jody Minjarez.

FOX25 reports that Victor Minjarez, the father of the child, was arrested after authorities found him hiding out in a home off of the 3000 block of Venice Blvd. Police issued an AMBER Alert for Jody on Wednesday after Minjarez reportedly sent a disturbing text message to the baby’s mother.

On February 19, authorities responded to a domestic violence call off of the 1500 block of Lakecrest Drive, after the suspect allegedly attacked the baby’s mothers, Oklahoma News 4 reports. He apparently fled the residence with Jody, but the mother filed for and obtained an emergency restraining order shortly after. Minjarez was ordered to return the boy to his mother on February 23, but he refused, and later sent a text message telling her she would never see her son again.

Authorities issued an AMBER Alert after learning of the suspect’s text message to the child’s mother. Police said because of the message, they felt Jody was in imminent danger. Minjarez was found on Wednesday night, and the AMBER Alert was canceled. At that point, however, they hadn’t yet found the baby. Shortly after, Jody’s lifeless body was found inside the home off of Venice Blvd.

Minjarez is facing not only a first-degree murder charge, but also one felony count of desecrating a human corpse.
