Facebook Live video shows man shot in the head while friends ‘play’ with guns in car

A Houston man is fighting for his life after a friend accidentally shot him while playing with a gun.

Houston news station KHOU reports that Devyn Holmes, 26, suffered a gunshot wound to the head after a gun discharged while he was in the driver’s seat of a parked car with two of his friends early Easter Sunday morning. Both of the friends were reportedly playing with guns, waving them at the victim, when one of the guns went off.

The terrifying scene was broadcast on Facebook live and a video was posted on Instagram. Friends of the victim confirmed to KHOU that Holmes is seen in the video, wearing a white shirt. Both of the passengers in the car with Holmes are holding guns, including a woman identified as Cassandra Damper, 25, who has since been charged in connection to the shooting.

In the edited video, Holmes can be heard saying “You’re making me nervous,” while his friends toy around with the two guns, Cassandra appearing to wave one in front of the camera. The edited video cuts out at the moment Holmes is shot, but resumes after the gun went off, showing Holmes bleeding and unconscious.

One of the passengers can be saying, “Oh my god,” before they both exit the car, which was in the parking lot of a Valero gas station in Houston.

Damper allegedly tried to remove gun residue from her hands after the shooting, which police are preliminarily investigating as accidental. Damper reportedly told police that she did not believe the gun was loaded. She has been charged with tampering or fabricating evidence.

According to the New York Post, police said more charges could be forthcoming.

The unidentified male passenger in the car has not been charged.

Holmes reportedly remains on life support at Ben Taub Hospital.

CrimeOnline will provide an update when more information is available.
