Married doctor travels over 1K miles for sex with underage girl he met online: Police

An Oklahoma doctor is facing several felony charges after he allegedly drove to Florida earlier this year and had sex with a teen girl he met online.

The Bradenton Herald reports that authorities arrested 27-year-old Angelo Francisco Trigoso-Jara, of Oklahoma City, at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Wednesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Trigoso-Jara met a 15-year-old girl online in January on a website that connects people together anonymously through video and text. The pair eventually began chatting on Snapchat and made plans to meet in Florida. The suspect drove from Oklahoma City, arriving the girl’s Venice area home at around 1 a.m. on January 19. He then allegedly picked the victim up in his vehicle and drove to a hotel off of  2900 block of Executive Drive in Venice, where they pair had sex.

On February 26, when the teen’s mother found out what happened, she contacted police. The victim told authorities that Trigoso-Jara told her was 23 years old; she later found out he was 27. Authorities also uncovered evidence on the teen’s phone, which reportedly included nude photos the suspect sent of himself.

Detectives with the U.S. Customs and U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force intervened at the airport and took the suspect into custody. A sheriff’s spokesperson stated that the suspect was not en route to visit the teen when arrested.

Trigoso-Jara is facing charges that include

  • Five counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a victim under 16
  • Two counts of  lewd or lascivious exhibition using a computer
  • One count of of solicitation of a child via computer service in order to commit an unlawful sex act
  • One count of traveling to meet an underage person to commit an unlawful sex act

The suspect is being held without bond in the Arlington, Texas, city jai, but is scheduled for extradition to Sarasota County, Florida. Check back with CrimeOnline as additional details become available.
