Wealthy lawyer stabs pediatrician wife to death in the shower

A New York financier has pleaded guilty to the murder of his estranged wife in their Westchester mansion.

The New York Daily News reports that Jules Reich, 64, pleaded guilty to murdering his pediatrician wife, Dr. Robin Goldman, while she was showering in their Scarsdale home.

Reich reportedly stabbed Goldman, 58, multiple times in the stomach, chest, and back on January 20, 2016. He called 911 after the murder to report the crime, according to the New York Post.

The couple was reportedly going through a divorce at the time. Reich was arrested at the scene.

On Tuesday, Reich pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. He had initially been charged with second-degree murder.

Reich faces up to 25 years in prison.

Westchester District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said in a statement obtained by the New York Post that Reich and Goldman’s adult children were supportive of the plea deal.

“The children are in complete agreement with the plea of Manslaughter in the First Degree, as such a disposition would make their 64-year-old father accountable for his actions,” Scarpino said in a statement.

“They are relieved their father finally accepted responsibility for his actions and his plea will help them move forward and bring finality to a horrific situation.”

The report did not state a precise motive for the murder.
