Man shoots girlfriend dead outside of store in front of her teen daughter over $36 dispute: Cops

Investigators say a Missouri man fatally shot his girlfriend in a retail parking lot because she refused to give him a ride to an area pawn shop.

According to KMOV, 42-year-old Brian Clay was arrested shortly after he allegedly shot 32-year-old Loreal Goode in her head outside of a Family Dollar in Jennings on Wednesday morning.

Police say the shooting took place shortly before 11 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after someone discovered her lying in the parking lot.

Subsequent reports indicate the deadly argument stemmed from Goode’s refusal to give the suspect a ride to a pawn shop and the $36 it would take for him to retrieve his television.

Clay allegedly used a .38 revolver to shoot his girlfriend in front of her 14-year-old daughter.

Don Lyles said he is a close friend of the victim who was supposed to meet her shortly after the shooting for a meeting that is “not ever going to take place.”

The St. Louis Police Department indicates Clay is expected to face criminal charges including first-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree robbery and unlawful firearm possession.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, though, and urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact detectives by calling 636-529-8210.

Goode’s family has established an online fundraiser in an effort to help with her final expenses.

“Her ex boyfriend killed her right in my face and threw my mama out the car,” her daughter wrote in an online description of the fundraiser.
