Brown has encountered legal troubles for the better part of a decade, dating back to his guilty plea in 2009 on one felony count of assault against then-girlfriend Rihanna. Upon that conviction, he received a five-year probated sentence. As People reported, he has since had several other brushes with the law.

Subsequent issues including violation of the terms of his probation led to community service as well as stints behind bars, in an anger management facility and in rehab.
