Authorities in California say a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and other serious criminal charges after they say he went on a brutal stabbing spree on his immediate family.
According to the New York Post, Jose Emanuel Raselbach is accused to stabbing his parents and sister late Sunday evening at a residence in West Hollywood.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released a statement indicating the suspect’s father was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were transported to an area hospital.
Deputies were reportedly called to the scene after receiving a report of an assault at the residence. Reports did not specify who called 911.
Raselbach’s sister, identified as a woman in her 30s, was admitted in serious condition. His mother sustained only minor physical injuries and has reportedly been released from the hospital.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kimberly Alexander revealed that detectives recovered a knife at the scene. It was unclear as of the latest reports what the motive for the alleged attack might have been.
Initial reports did not reveal whether Raselbach has an attorney. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
The suspect was booked into jail with bail set at $2 million, according to KTLA.
