Teen girl found earlier this year after fleeing to Mexico with 45-year-old man is missing AGAIN: Police

A teen girl who made national headlines earlier year this for reportedly fleeing with a 45-year-old man to Mexico is apparently missing once again, according to authorities.

LehighValleyLive reports that 16-year-old Amy Yu allegedly fled from the youth residential program, Vision Quest, in Greene Township, on Monday at around 1 a.m. According to Allentown Assistant Police Chief Gail Struss, police are aware of Yu’s disappearance. The teen was last seen wearing dark shoes with light laces, a sweatshirt, and pants.

In March, as CrimeOnline previously reported, police issued a missing persons alert for Yu after she disappeared with 45-year-old Kevin Esterly, who authorities say signed her out of school after being warned to stay away from her.

Court records indicate that the teen and the suspect were in a secret relationship. They were later found together in Mexico. Authorities arrested Esterly and Yu was promptly returned to Pennsylvania, where her mother, Mui Luu, enrolled her in the at-risk youth residential program.

“I feel very sad. I say how come she ran out from that place? I thought that place is safe for her. So I’m very sad and concerned now,” Mui Luu said to 69 News.

Yu allegedly fled with with two other teens, Ajah Linares, 17, and Nicole Richard, 16. The girls reportedly left in an unknown vehicle. Police say the girls are not considered a threat to the public, but all three are under 18 and were not given permission to leave the program.
