Toddler boy dies after dad emitting ‘odor of alcohol’ leaves him inside hot truck: Cops

Authorities in Oklahoma say a 33-year-old man was possibly drunk when he allegedly left his 3-year-old son inside a hot truck earlier this week.

According to Fox News, suspect Adam Kolar was with a friend when they discovered the young boy’s body inside the vehicle.

The friend called 911 to report the incident at around 5 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a transcript of that call, the man said the boy “was left in the vehicle in the car seat” and was unresponsive.

“We finally found him in the car,” the caller said. “He’s unconscious right now, and he’s drooling. We need somebody here now.”

Authorities and emergency personnel arrived at the scene and attempted to resuscitate the child. He was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Kolar was arrested at the scene and later interviewed by police who remarked that he emitted the “odor of alcohol” and slurred his speech while talking to them.

He is expected to face criminal charges including first-degree murder. As of the latest reports available, he remained behind bars at the El Reno City Jail.

Though the results of a blood-alcohol test had not been released as of the latest reports available, investigators were reportedly considering the possibility that intoxication led Kolar to leave the child inside of his truck.

The investigation remains open, according to authorities who say they are still trying to formalize the suspected series of events leading up to the toddler’s death.
