Angelina Jolie claims Brad Pitt not paying enough child support, Pitt’s camp says it’s a false smear campaign

Angelina Jolie has reportedly claimed that her estranged husband Brad Pitt has not paid any “meaningful” in the last 18 months, but sources claim the allegations are a publicity stunt to try and make him look bad.

According to a NBC News report, Jolie claimed in a court filing that Pitt has not been paying substantial child support in the last year-and-a-half, and that she plans to pursue a court order forcing him to pay up. The couple split just under two years ago in September 2016.

“[Pitt] has a duty to pay child support. As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation,” Jolie’s attorney Samantha Bley DeJean wrote in a legal briefing obtained by NBC News.

“Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an RFO (request for a court order) for the establishment of a retroactive child support order.”

The estranged couple has not yet finalized their divorce, and reportedly put the process on hold as they worked out a shared custody agreement. The terms of any temporary financial agreement reached under California law are not known.

Sources close to Pitt told Page Six that Jolie made the court filing as part of a smear campaign to tarnish her estranged husband’s reputation after he decided to re-start the formal divorce process.

“This happened because Brad became fed up and said he wanted to start the formal process of divorce again and filed papers to do that,” one source told Page Six.

“Brad has completely lived up to his commitments as far as child support and will continue to do so.”

Page Six was not immediately able to reach either of the actor’s reps for comment.
