Cops arrest fellow officer for sexually assaulting infant after following trail of evidence from another pedophile bust

Authorities in the United Kingdom say a police officer was convicted of charges associated with producing and distributing child pornography.

According to the U.K. Daily Mail, 48-year-old former South Wales police officer was found guilty of raping an infant and sharing video of the abuse via a smartphone app.

Suspicion surrounding the cop began to grow after another alleged pedophile was arrested and investigators began tracing evidence back to him.

He is accused of having conspired with Cardiff attorney John Ryan-Guess to distribute images and footage of their sexual abuse of young girls.

The mother of the young girl depicted in the video described her dismay at hearing the dreadful news.

“It was just like being hit by a bus,” she said. “We will always have to live with the consequences.”

Roberts was sentenced to 16 years behind bars and will be required to serve at least 12 years of it.

“The victim was particularly vulnerable because of her extremely young age,” said Judge Recorder of Cardiff Eleri Rees. “She was helpless to defend herself although the footage indicates she was awake and in real discomfort.”

Ryan-Guess, 43, has already been sentenced in the case and faces 26 years in jail. He was convicted of, among other crimes against children, abusing two sleeping girls and filming the abuse to share online.

He pleaded guilty to a total of 37 counts, according to BBC.

The mother of one of his victims testified that she was “initially numb with the shock and horror,” a reaction that she said has “been replaced with considerable sadness and anger.”
