Waffle House customer shoots suspect who tries to rob restaurant with BB gun: Police

Georgia police are searching for a man accused of attempted robbery at a Villa Ricca Waffle House restaurant on Thursday, who dropped a BB gun and managed to escape after a customer shot him.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the incident occurred at the Highway 61 Waffle House a little after midnight, when a would-be robber entered the restaurant and aimed a BB gun at the employees while announcing he intended to rob them. One of the customers at the restaurant pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect, who immediately ran out of the store and fled in a small, dark-colored vehicle.

While fleeing the scene, the suspect dropped the BB gun, according to the Villa Rica Police Department’s Facebook post. No description of the suspect has yet been given. However, a deceased person was found later that day in neighboring Carroll County. Police are working to identify the person and to determine if it’s the suspect from the attempted robbery.
