Parents arrested after bringing 3-year-old boy to hospital with gunshot wound: Police

Authorities in Georgia say a man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of multiple criminal counts associated with the shooting of a toddler last week.

According to WAGA, the 3-year-old boy was admitted to Emory Midtown Hospital on Friday.

He was apparently suffering from a gunshot wound and hospital staff reportedly contacted local authorities right away.

When police officers arrived, they interviewed the couple who brought the boy in.

The parents were identified as 40-year-old Gilbert Hardy and 28-year-old Sasiya Dixon. They were both arrested following an initial investigation that included a search of their home.

Reports indicate the shooting occurred at the couple’s home on 2nd street in Atlanta.

As of the latest updates available, the boy had been transported to Egleston Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

According to police, the case remains open and detectives are still conducting an investigation into the shooting.

Dixon is expected to face charges including cruelty to children and reckless conduct. Hardy will reportedly face the same counts in addition to tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities said additional charges could be added as the investigation continues.
