Arieanna Day: Police obtain search warrant for family member’s cellphone in connection with baby who disappeared from her crib

Virginia authorities have executed search warrants for a family member of a man behind bars in connection with a missing 3-month-old baby.

Virginia First reports that investigators are in the process of the searching the phone of Sidney Terry, cousin of Andrew Terry. Roanoke police previously arrested Andrew Terry in connection with his missing infant daughter, Arieanna Day. Court documents indicate that Andrew and Sidney had contact with each other on and around September 11, the day the baby vanished.

According to police, Sidney Terry acted “evasive” when asked about Arieanna and lied when questioned about having contact with Andrew Terry around the time she disappeared.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Andrew Terry is currently behind bars and charged with “illegal dumping of a body” in connection with Arieanna, who was last seen in her crib at her mother’s home in Roanoke. According to the search warrant, Terry, who police said was the child’s father, was inside the home the day Arieanna vanished.

“The infants [sic] father Andrew Terry was on scene as well and has had communication with the mother in the time leading up to the report being made,” the search warrant stated.

The warrant also stated Terry used his cellphone in connection to “an abduction and kidnapping.” Further, the child’s mother apparently contacted Terry via Facebook messenger to inquire about Arieanna prior to contacting police. Authorities are combing through the records to obtain additional information.

A second search warrant indicated authorities obtained carpet samples, shirts, and swabs from the vehicle Terry drove on the day in question, a black Nissan Maxima. Detectives said the suspect may have been around the areas of Jennelle, North Fork, and Cedar Run Roads on September 11.

They’re now seeking anyone who may have seen him pull to the side of the road in the areas on September 11 between 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.. The license plate number on the car has been identified as VWP1130.

The baby’s mother told police she put the baby in her crib at around 9:30 p.m., in a home off of 1100 block of Hanover NW. The mother said when she checked in on the baby “a short time later,” she was missing. The mother also claimed the doors in her home were not locked, but she only went to the kitchen area before returning to check on Arieanna.

Officers arrived at the home at around 11 p.m. and interviewed the mother, followed by Terry.

On September 13, authorities announced that Arieanna was likely dead after arresting the suspect in Blacksburg.

“The investigative focus has now shifted to the realistic possibility that circumstances related to Arieanna Day indicate that she is most likely deceased,” a police statement read. “We are continuing our investigation with this in mind, and hope that we can bring closure to this case and family.”

Terry is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail. He’s currently the only suspect named in the case.
