Authorities in Texas say a high school teacher has admitted to engaging in sex acts with a 15-year-old male student.
According to the New York Post, 23-year-old Erica Dinora Gomez taught mathematics at Bowie High School in Austin prior to her arrest this week on suspicion of sexual assault of a child.
She allegedly met the victim near the beginning of this year and police believe the illegal contact began in August.
Police reports indicate Gomez confessed to multiple incidents subsequent weeks, including meetings in a vehicle she allegedly referenced in social media messages to the teen.
“Babe … We’ve had car sex twice,” she wrote in one Snapchat message, according to police. “Like that blows my mind LOL.”
Another message allegedly referenced “fun in the back seat.”
Reports indicate his mother identified Gomez as the boy’s previous tutor. She reportedly became suspicious of her son after hearing him sneak in and finding him in his room fully clothed early Sunday morning.
Authorities say she found that his phone contained a series of suggestive and explicitly sexual messages from a user called “Special,” which she later determined was Gomez.
According to a statement to parents, the district confirmed the arrest and indicated officials were in the process of terminating her employment.
“Parents have a lot of questions,” said Austin Independent School District Chief Ashley Gonzalez, according to KXAN. “You know, their children attend this school. There’s some concerns. There’s some frustration. There’s some sadness. We wanted to make sure they have the correct facts coming from us.”
The suspect was behind bars as of the latest reports available with bail set at $75,000.
