Crew member dies after fall on set of Mr. Rogers movie starring Tom Hanks

A crew member has died after an accident on the set of a movie about Mister Rogers starring Tom Hanks.

The Associated Press reports that James Emswiller, 61, died after he fell two stories during an accident on the set of “You are my Friend,” which is filming in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Allegheny County authorities told the Associated Press that Emswiller, reportedly a sound mixer, fell two stories on Thursday evening during a break in filming. According to a report in Variety, Emswiller had been taking a smoke break and fell from a balcony.

Emswiller was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital, but his condition deteriorated, and he was later pronounced dead.

Hanks, who plays Mr. Rogers in the movie about his life, was reportedly on set at the time of the accident.

Filming was suspended while authorities investigate the incident.
