Drug-fueled sailor strips naked and runs amok in Busch Gardens parking lots: Cops

Authorities in Virginia say an unclothed man ran through multiple parking lots at a theme park last week in an apparent attempt to enter parked vehicles.

According to WAVY, 21-year-old Adrian Gilbert Cardenas was arrested by James City County police officers on Friday following reports of the incident.

The suspect is a member of the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk at the time of his arrest. Military sources say he sailed aboard the USS George H.W. Bush.

Though reports do not indicate when the crime is believed to have commenced earlier on the day of his arrest, police allege the sailor was impaired by consumption of drugs and alcohol at the time.

The naked suspect allegedly ran up to vehicles at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, traveling between the parking lots in the Italy and Germany sections of the park.

When authorities arrived at the scene, Cardena allegedly resisted arrest, assaulted a police officer and attempted to flee on foot.

Authorities say a witness pitched in to help restrain the suspect and the arresting officer used a stun gun to get the upper hand and take Cardena into custody.

As of the latest updates available, criminal charges in the case had not been formally filed.
