Cops say bracelet at crime scene linked to woman suspected in brutal stabbing-shooting murder

A Florida woman was arrested this week on suspicion of murder after a 34-year-old man was shot and stabbed in a fatal armed robbery.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, 25-year-old Melissa McNutt was still behind bars at without bail as of the latest update available.

She is accused of killing Salisbury, N.C., resident Justin Heilig during a violent encounter in Hyde Park on Sept. 30.

Reports indicate the victim was discovered near a residence on South Willow Avenue early that morning. Upon his arrival at an area hospital a short time later, he was pronounced dead of multiple injuries.

A subsequent investigation found the suspect and victim had been together earlier, but reports did not offer details about their apparent relationship.

Heilig allegedly entered McNutt’s vehicle in Ybor City and a sedan matching the description of her car was spotted leaving the area where gunshots were heard at the time of the man’s homicide.

Police reports indicate detectives collected crime scene evidence including a bloody knife and a bracelet.

She is expected to face criminal charges including first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are offering a reward of up to $3,000 for relevant information.
