A man and woman have pleaded guilty to two criminal charges each months after their initial arrests.
Authorities in Texas were pursuing criminal charges against the husband and wife accused of sexually abusing or exploiting dozens of minors between the ages of 8 months and 14 years old.
According to WFLA, 26-year-old Christopher Almaguer and his wife, 27-year-old Sarah Rashelle Almaguer, were arrested in February and accused of producing child pornography with the juvenile victims.
As prosecutors argued, the couple produced and published “sexually explicit videos of themselves sexually assaulting children as young as 8 months old.”
Though authorities believe there could be 25 victims, both defendants pleaded guilty to one count each of sexual exploitation of children and production of child pornography.
According to Newsweek, Sarah Almaguer claimed she had a “long-term, secret, sexual relationship” with her brother-in-law, who requested she engage in child pornography and send him the footage through Facebook messenger.
That man, Paul Perez Jr., was also arrested as part of the investigation.
The United States Attorney’s Office advises that each count to which the pair pleaded guilty carries a penalty of between 15 and 30 years behind bars.
Sentencing in the case is set for January 29, when both Christopher and Sarah Almaguer will appear again before U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright.
