North Carolina schools on lockdown amid reports of active shooter

Police are responding to reports of an active shooter at Topsail High School in Pender County, North Carolina.

Capt. James Rowell of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office told WECT 6 News that the scene is currently active, though no injuries have been reported.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that school was not in sessions at the time the active shooting was reported.

School officials told WECT News that  Topsail High School, Topsail Middle School and Topsail Elementary School are on lockdown, and that incoming school buses are being rerouted to Lowe’s Foods which is reportedly across the street from the schools. Parents who drive their children to school are asked not to bring them while the buildings are on lockdown.
