Would-be burglar cuts himself breaking into home, dies inside when he can’t stop bleeding: Cops

Authorities in Texas say a man made a fatal mistake in deciding to break into a home last week.

According to WTOL, the El Paso Police Department dispatched officers to the scene of an attempted residential burglary on Monday evening.

“Crimes Against Persons detectives are continuing the investigation of a house break-in that cost a man his life,” a statement from authorities indicates. “Central officers responded to a burglary of habitation call at the 3000 block of Copper, after the homeowner discovered a broken window and blood.”

A press release indicates the deceased man, identified as 28-year-old Javier Tellez Jr., cut himself on a broken window as he attempted to gain entry into the home.

“The officers entered the residence and found the body of a man inside,” the sheriff’s office statement concluded. “Investigators determined that the man had lacerated his arms on the broken window while entering the residence and unable to stop the bleeding, the man died.”

According to KFOX, the incident is believed to have happened on Tuesday at about 5:22 p.m.

Authorities say officers were dispatched to the residence in response to a report by the homeowner, who discovered the broken window and blood.

As the sheriff’s office explained, Tellez sustained cuts to his arms that resulted in uncontrollable bleeding.

Reports indicate the homeowner contacted police, who say the investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
