One year after firing for sexual misconduct allegations, Matt Lauer ‘is not doing well’: Report

One year after NBC fired Today show host Matt Lauer amid numerous sexual misconduct allegations, the one-time morning T.V. fixture is reportedly struggling.

According to People magazine, Lauer is having difficulty adjusting to a life away from the spotlight as he has been out of work for a year, and reportedly does not intend to come back to television anytime soon.

“It has been hard for him. He went from being a super busy person to having nothing but time on his hands,” a source close to Lauer told the magazine. “He is not doing well.”

Still, another source said that Lauer “doesn’t sit around thinking about a comeback.”

Lauer is reportedly still living in a sprawling Long Island home he shares with his estranged with Annette Roque, as the pair works out the terms of their divorce. The unemployed Lauer is reportedly focusing on mending his relationships with his three school-age children.

“He’s trying to get by putting all his energy into his kids,” a source told People. “He is working on his relationship with his kids. They have a good relationship, but they’ve been through a lot.”

Another source said that Lauer finds the time to socialize with friends, but is not involved with anyone romantically.

“He is not dating … Some former colleagues have visited him. He has some long-term friends he sees and hangs out with on a regular basis.”

The New York Post had previously reported that Lauer is expected to pay up to $20 million to Roque in a divorce settlement.
