Developing: Newborn baby found in trash bag on residential front porch

Authorities are investigating the death of an infant in Kentucky after someone spotted the baby early Tuesday morning, left in a trash bag outside of a home.

CBS reports that the Kentucky State Police responded to a caller who noticed the baby outside of a home in Clay County, off of Ham Hollow Road. Troopers arrived and discovered the baby in a trash can on the front porch of a residence.

Authorities said the newborn’s body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office Frankfort for an autopsy, to determine the exact cause of death. The infant’s identity and the parents’ identity are not yet known.

Although it’s unclear whose porch the baby was found on, a Facebook user posted a comment Monday that “somebody put a new born [sic] baby at the bottom of the steps in a trash bag.”
