Bar brawl turns deadly when drunk patron opens fire before fleeing the scene: Cops

Authorities in Utah say an altercation at a bar in St. George turned deadly when a 26-year-old man opened fire on at a 34-year-old patron.

The incident took place early Saturday morning, according to police.

As KSL reported, Bronson Joseph Flynn has since been arrested on suspicion of firing a gun at the One and Only Bar.

Reports indicate the victim was treated for injuries at the scene and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators claim the shooting stemmed from a disagreement and allege Flynn also threatened at least two other individuals during the altercation.

Police believe he was intoxicated at the time. Officers were able to track down the suspect a short time later and found him in possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported from the scene to Purgatory Correctional Facility where he was booked into jail. Investigators signal they are looking into charges related to homicide, driving under the influence, two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and unlawfully brandishing a weapon in addition to the alleged drug paraphernalia possession.

The investigation remains ongoing, however, and authorities continue to determine which criminal counts are appropriate to recommend.

As of the latest reports available, the victim has not been publicly identified. Additional details about the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the St. George Police Department’s investigations tip hotline by calling 435-627-4338.
